Beijing Olympic Games

The last day of the Beijing Olympic games, but overall it was a success. The Games had set up a higher benchmark for the 2012 London Olympic games. China had won 51 gold medals, 21 silver medals and 28 bronze medals, which is an outstanding acheivement. It was just short of 5 gold medals to eclipse the Soviet Union record of 55 gold medals won in the 1988 Seoul Games. The Games had succeeded in opening up China but the western media had been critical of the social and political change in the Communist giant. 'The world has learned about China, and China has learned about the world, and I believe this is something that will have positive effects for the long term," Rogge, IOC president, said. The opening ceromony had made us, The Han Chinese, proud of our 5000 years history and being one of the descendants and I believe the closing ceremony will be as brilliant as the opening ceremony. 中国加油！奥运加油！
